The Island

Spartia, Kefalonia

The Setting

The villa sits above the village of Spartia, on the south coast of Kefalonia — the larger, quieter of the Ionian islands. The kind of place where you arrive intending to do everything and end up doing very little, very well.

Eat

Cavo Liakas in Spartia village is our go-to — warm welcome, proper Kefalonian cooking. Avithos Preview sits right on Avithos beach for long, salty lunches. Up by Saint George's castle, The Olive Lounge is worth the short drive for a quieter evening with a view.

Swim

Avithos and Spartia are our nearest beaches, both within a few minutes. Avithos is a protected loggerhead turtle nesting beach — soft sand, shallow water and, if you're lucky in late summer, you'll see the hatchlings making their way to the sea. Read more about the turtles →

Wander

Argostoli, the island's laid-back capital, is a fifteen-minute drive or taxi ride: a harbour-front lined with bars and restaurants, the famous Drapano Bridge, and weekly markets. Saint George's Castle and the Monastery of Agios Andreas are both close by too.
